Here at Bridgemere Building Services, we are a long-established and trusted loft conversion company that design and instal loft conversions throughout Stourbridge, Halesowen and the surrounding areas. Increasingly popular with homeowners wanting to expand their living space, be it for an extra bedroom, home office or luxury bathroom, loft conversions can add up to 20% value to your property and are ideal for those not wanting to lose any exterior space.
Loft conversions come in a range of styles, with our team experienced in installing different options on properties of all shapes and sizes. Initially, we will hold a consultation with you, discussing your plans at length and providing the advice you need to decide if a particular loft conversion is right for you. Certain loft conversions are more labour-intensive than others, especially if there are obstacles (such as beams, water tanks) or issues with stairs access, so we are always upfront about possible challenges to manage your expectations.
Loft Conversions Company You Can Trust
We have years of experience installing loft conversions and there is not much we haven’t encountered before. Our team project manage everything from the initial design drawings to the final fit-out, working efficiently to keep any disruption to a minimum. We will also install every fixture and fitting you need so you can enjoy your new loft space straight away.
Not all loft conversions require planning permission; however, they still need to meet building regulatory standards. This requirement includes load-bearing walls, so we enlist advice from structural engineers and architects to make sure your loft conversion is structurally sound and suitable for your property.
Types of Loft Styles
Below are some of the loft styles we specialise in:
Velux Roof Light
This is a budget-friendly loft style for semi-detached and detached properties (including bungalows and cottages.) It is easily achievable with the placement of Velux windows in your pitched roof and does not require any structural alterations. As long as you have a minimum height of 2.2M in your loft and stairs access, you should not encounter any issues and will unlikely require any planning permission.
Dormer
Dormer conversions are box-like structures that protrude from pitched roofs. You can have a single dormer or multiple dormers added to your property depending on your budget and how much space you would like. Dormer conversions may require planning permission as you are extending outwards and will alter the appearance of your property exterior. However, they are suitable for nearly every type of property and can include features like Juliet balconies to gain extra light and aesthetic detail.
Hip-to-Gable
This type of loft conversion is designed for ‘hip-roofs’, which are roofs with no vertical sides. Hip-to-gable lofts involve inserting a vertical wall in place of the sloping part of the roof (hip). Suitable for semi-detached and detached properties, they often look more natural than other types of loft conversion and do not always require planning permission as they blend in seamlessly with the roof’s existing features.
Mansard
At the higher end of the loft conversion price range, a mansard loft conversion extends across the entire length of the roof line to provide unparalleled space. These lofts are more labour-intensive and will very likely require planning permission as they drastically change your home exterior. However, they are also likely to add significant value to your home over time, making them a worthwhile investment.
